Can't launch the Far Cry 5
Can't launch the Far Cry 5
The friend of mine gifted me far cry 5, at that point I haven't enough time to play it, so I owe my steam account to my other friend (John), so he can play the game. My though, that he link Far Cry to his Ubisoft account, and now when I'm trying to launch the game using my ubisoft account, it says "there was a problem authenticating the ownership of this product..."
For some reason I cant contact with John now. And my question, is there a way to re-link the game to my Usbisoft account, without contacting with Jonh?

P.S. I've already written to support, I've provided them with proof that I own the game on Steam, but it doesn't seem to be moving anywhere.

Contact Ubisoft support, Steam won't help you with that.
Your steam account may be linked to an uplay account that is not yours.
This will affect every ubosoft game you buy with steam.

Just so you know, in case you can not revert it.

But on uplay you can unlink a steam account, i dont know if you then can add another. If you do that, at least fc5 will not run for you anymore.
(Nvm, its not your account that is linked. So this does not matter)

Ask the ubi support for clarification on how to proceed. This were my thoughts.

I've been having this issue for a while and tried everything I've found on the net to no avail. So I tried something and got it to work! Completely exit Steam. Open Ubisoft Connect and run the game from there. It will open Steam itself and the game will run. FINALLY figured it out!

Here the deal with 3rd party launchers like EA, Ubisoft, or etc... You DON'T lend your account to others to linking your game to someone else account.

Reason why is because the game license bind to said link account, and this where it be headache to getting it resolved with Ubisoft support as they have to transfer the license to your account assuming they do it, or else be playing waiting game for days to weeks to get it resolved.

When link accounts for said game, have to use same matching accounts that were used, there no mixing, it's match only.

So best of luck hope Ubisoft support don't give you too much trouble as they're the only ones that can transfer Ubisoft linked game licenses.
