Steam download is capped at around 2 MB/s

Downloads from other launchers and browser are downloading as they should be steam is capped for some reason. My internet speed is 50 Mbps at the time of creating this post (It should be a hundred Mbps but you know, whatever) I tried:

Clearing browser cache

Changing server location

Flushing steam config

Reinstalling steam

So you should be getting ~6.25MB/s.

You aren't capped on Steams end. You might want to check what your service provider is doing.

Alright, it seems now that as I posted this reply, its at 7.7 MB/s. I think my ISP is doing some bullshittery like throttling my internet at certain times of the day or it just sucks.

Can be many things why happens, either too much traffic in your area at once that overwhelm the hub in your area, or something running in background at same time your downloading, maybe your storage drive doing something that cause resources to be taken away from having full bandwidth, it could be way the game package for how it downloads such as downloading & writing at same time, or many other reasons which either your ISP, to your end.

I just downloaded a game at 152MB\s or 1,25gb\s, it's definitely not Steam.

Changed my server location to BRASIL of all places, it immediately improved to what its supposed to

I've been downloading more or less a title a day for about a week now and I can confirm that steam sucks these days ..both normal internet / 5G / and satellite have the same result , if I do speed tests I'm always at the maximum granted but steam doesn't want to know

noticed though that if I start downloads in the morning (European time zone ) the speed is normal and this drop happens only towards the evening

Im from hungary and its the same thing here, literally tried EVERYTHING...
changed the netcable, restarted the router, restarted pc, reinstalled steam etc
downloadspeed is maxing out everywhere else, except Steam
my friend is at Telekom, same as me and he's downloading at a fine rate, me? im stuck at 1mb/s..and its been like this for WEEKS..even refunded games because i wont wait 3 days for a frickin download

* your cpu
* your disk IO
* your anti-virus

@Satoru - If any other download is fast as expected and only the ones from Steam are not. How can CPU, disk IO, AV be an issue at all. ISP could limit steam but e.g. on asking the ISP (biggest in Germany) they say they dont. Also just some days ago it was not throttled at all with same provider.
