Steam conflicting with Xbox Game Pass
I just got Xbox Game Pass on the PC, which allows you to play certain games for a limited time only.

I am wondering, if I install a game with Xbox Game Pass, later uninstall it, and then buy it on Steam later, will this create problems?

For instance, could this cause hard drive space to be lost with redundant files, and also cause crashes and conflicts between both installs?

They install to completely different folders and file structures, there will be no overlap at all.
You only lose HDD space if you keep both the Gamepass version and the Steam version installed at the same time since they dont share any files.

Oh thanks, I thought certain files are put into a windows folder or some other shared folder and might conflict

Programs installing their stuff all over the place was the norm in the 90s, a.k.a. "over 20 years ago".

Good to know, although when you uninstall a game on Steam it still keeps a lot of the files in the /steamapps folder unless you manually delete them, mainly saved games I think.

Saves are stored in the userdata folder not steamapps, the only files left behind in steamapps after uninstalling a game are ones you've added yourself, mods and such.
