Report a translation problem
This could be a bug with your friend's library.
Tell your friend to check their Library settings:
Steam - settings - Account tab - Privacy settings
There should be a field that looks like this:
Inventory:Public
Your inventory includes items you've received in games that use Steam Trading. It also includes any Steam Trading Cards you've collected and extra copies or Steam Gifts.
Always keep Steam Gifts private even if users can see my inventory.

Ahhh so that's the culprit. I asked them to see if they can unprivate their owned game and now I can see it displayed on their profile as their playtime hours.
