Monitor issues while running games
I bought a new Samsung Odyssey G7 28'' 240 hertz monitor and came across the following problem. At this moment in the settings is 120 hertz. I need to buy a better cable. When running serious games at 120 hertz (in my case, Destiny 2, Battlefield 5, and Battlefront 2), the monitor turns off and shows that there is no signal, but if you switch the monitor to 60 hertz, everything works, but the picture in games is terrible, as if someone messed up all the monitor settings . What could be the problem? Maybe it's through the cable? As for the cable, I'm currently using display port.

at what resolution?
what video card?
are you using the Ultra HD, HD, SD list of Resolutions(if NVIDIA)?

If NVIDIA use the NV control panel then > Display > Change resolution:
1. Select the display you would like to change(optional)
2. Choose the resolution:
In the Resolution panel you have a list of resolutions with Refresh rate panel drop down box.
If you are "currently" 1080, 1920 x 1080(native) and refresh tops out at 120Hz Scroll down the list to the second line of resolutions > PC------------- 1920 x 1080 and now see if you can select 240Hz

^^^ If the cable is junk, it won't be able to carry the necessary bandwidth that higher framerates or higher resolutions demand.

If they are available in your area, look into JSAUX cables.

Not crazy expensive and good build quality.

Are you connected through HDMI? Use DisplayPort instead. HDMI typically only supports 60 Hz.
Some HDMI (I forget the model maybe 4.1 or something Google it) can do higher refresh rates like DisplayPort. It is actually making DP obsolete because DP cannot do audio while HDMI can. It can also Ethernet adapt but that is a different story and not recommended.

OP, make sure you are not using Interlacing modes for refresh. And some monitors have a "game mode" for refresh (some it is just for colors and such), and also some monitors want not only to be set Windows-sided refresh rates but also on the monitor settings itself.

And make sure you are using proper drivers, I seen some monitors that have multiple drivers like this one here and well, it's a long story.

And also make sure you are using a proper DP cable as there are a few DP ratings, some are garbage cables from years back. (Google those also, I think it is up to DP 2.1 or something - I forget). but then make sure your system can support higher DP and HDMI cables in support.

I am going to send a friend request so we can knock out this issue together with more effectiveness than on a forum. Add me if you want to, if not, I wish you well.

They've already said they're using Display Port, like raWwRrr said the most obvious culprit is the cable and they should be investing in a decent one as a first step as the easiest fix.

It is not a fix. There are three different series of DP cables. Of course you already know this expert...

If they are using DP 1.0/1.3, then yes the cable is faulted. But what if they are using DP 1.8 or higher? Cables are pretty much all made the same unless it is a cable from China and NOT branded by a backed brand name, such as Furui or Capshi. Just don't use Cable Matters, lmfao.

Why so condescending? I know a lot more than you think... Learn new things...

And please stop deliberately harming people's computers. We can all see your posted history, genius.
