Can't run steam. help. steamwebhelper is not responding.
Hello anyone who reads this. I've run into this persistent issue that makes me unable to run Steam on my Windows 10 pc. Every time I try to launch Steam, it gives me this message:

"steamwebhelper, a critical Steam component, is not responding. The Steam UI will not be usable. Click here for more information."

I've tried launching without GPU acceleration, without browser sandboxing etc.

I've tried uninstalling steam and reinstalling. I even uninstalled and deleted any files with the name "steam" on them. I've updated windows, drivers, etc.

I think it might have to do with something I did a while back, where I was running into this issue where I was playing some game and for some reason that game was making "steamwebhelper" have unusually high cpu usage. I ended up finding a bunch of code that I copy pasted into command prompt, (yes in retrospect I shouldn't have) which made it so that steam would launch in some kind of a minimal UI.

Does anyone know of any way for me to fix this issue short of a clean windows install? Like is there a command to get a clearer picture of what's causing the issue? Or maybe somewhere with error logs or something. Not really sure.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey,

I'm running Linux and had the same issue. I uninstalled steam and deleted my whole steam data directory and after reinstalling it worked.

Thanks for trying to help. I already tried doing that. I ended up just doing a full system reinstall. I was overdue for it anyways my pc was getting cluttered.
