why do i keep getting logged out?

every time i log into steam on my deck, the steam on my pc logs out, and the same thing happens in reverse too. its very annoying

To your question, is it Steam that's getting logged out, or a game you're playing on Steam?

You can only play one game at a time per account, so if you're playing something on your desktop and try and launch something else on your Deck, it will close the game on your desktop, and vice versa.

One workaround is to run one or the other in offline mode.

An account and it's library can only be in use by a single device at a time, while online.
You would need to login in offline mode on one device.
