Can't install steam after windows reinstall
Steam is not letting me install the steam app on my pc after reinstalling windows. I can log into my steam account successfully. After I'm logged in, and while I'm in the Steam account page with my account logged in, I click on install steam. It downloads steam app and I start to install. It asks me to log in again (remember I'm already logged in). It then says my PW is incorrect. So then my only option is to request a new PW, Then is puts me through 8+ capta quizes that are extremely low resolution, some so grainy I cannot depict what they are at all. After completing that, it says I failed, and I'm done. lol
I've gone through this process three times now. I'M LOGGED IN! But it won't let me install steam from the logged in page. No customer support phone number. No way around this borked system.

We need an alternative to steam. If there were, I'd be reinstalling all my games to a new app.

It says "account name or password incorrect". Check your account name. Make sure you're logging in using the actual account name, not the email address nor the profile name.

Every time i had to reinstall Steam i just downloaded the installer from the Steam homepage, you dont even need to be logged in for that, installed the program, then Steam asks you to login with your account and thats it.
Never had a problem with that in 12 years on Steam.

So if i understand you correctly the Steam client after installation wants you to login (which is normal) but tells you your password is wrong?

If it knows it's me to send my the code to my email, then it knows I know my user name.

It says user name or password is incorrect (both/either)
I've never had a problem before either, clealry looking at my account history, number of games, etc. I've been building my own pcs since windows 95 and have no issues working in the windows registry files, but can't install steam. lol
