CD key not registering on Steam

I've tried entering my CD key into steam every way I could think of. it never accepts. I install the CD with no issues. No issues playing or updating, the game works fine. I just want to know if there is another way to connect my account with the game.... I did buy it new too.

For Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3

Its more that its not a steamwork game, even if its sold on steam it doesn't always mean you can put the cdkey in to steam and it will work.

You can't add C&C: Red Alert 3 from a physical disc on Steam.

You can, however, add it to Origin if you want a digital copy.
