Are steam item bots legit, or a scam?
Lately my Steam Client has locked up because "Mobile authenticator has dectected suspicious activity on this account". It tells me to give all my items to a bot so they'll be safe. I keep on getting notifications to confirm a trade that I supposedly offered to a private profile called "Escrow bot #28" where I give them all my valuable items and recieve nothing. Is this a legit steam Escrow bot, or is this someone trying to steal my items? I will continually cancel the requests until I get confirmation that this is really steam, since I have had items stolen from me by similar methods in the past.

It's not legit. Your computer may be infected with malware that is automatically sending trade offers.

Try to think back how your PC got infected, did someone send you links with software? What was it?

I can't think of anything, really. I don't know. I ran virus scans and nothing came up.

Nobody sent links to anything. I've been super careful.

What about websites with downloads? or anything new you noticed before this? If you don't figure out how then it could happen again.

Anyway they cant steal your stuff without your phone so they try to lie to you and trick you to give them the stuff willingly.

If you find any users or someone who sends stuff be sure to report them and report that wierd bot thing it tells you about.

Also think about reformating your PC and changing all your passwords, maybe they keylogged it all. Use another PC to change your passwords or remformat and do it afterwards.

But seriously, check your download folder for weird stuff or something. it is very important to learn from this.

There was a weord random steam update one time... It was suspiciously slow and the program wasn't labeled as steam, but as something having to do with an adobe downloader. I don't know how or why it happened though.

And they tried to reset the phone number associated with my account, which I foiled.
