What is a Steam market hold?
I was interested in buying something on the community market until I read about "Steam Market Holds" Could someone please explain what they are?

If you do not have the mobile authenticator enabled for 7 days, any time you list an item on the Steam community market, it will not appear for sale for 15 days. This is so if anyone gains access to your account, they cannot move your items away through the community market.

I think you may be talking about a trade hold.

So if I don't have the steam mobile app, I can't buy anything off the market for 15 days?

Buying should not be affected, only selling.

You can still list items, they will not appear for sale for 15 days unless you have the mobile authenticator enabled for 7 days.

want to sell a card for 6 cents? go ♥♥♥♥ yourself :)

-steam

seriously this is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupidest decision they've made since paid mods. How is it possible to have this bad of customer service

It needs to be enabled for 7 days, and stay enabled, but yes.
I agree with Andem. This is the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea they ever had. I used to sell stuff on the market for quick cash so i could buy trading cards right away when i found a good bargain.

This dumb Idea from steam is just to control people. You either give them your phone number and you information or you load money from your bank account on to the steam account if you want to buy something real quick.

If it really would just be for security reasons than what is stopping them from making it a choice, an option you can enable in your settings with the mobile app (and only the mobile app) to hold your possessions for a period of time unless you use the mobile authenticator. This way everything would stay the way it was. No one would be forced to give up their information and only the people that like this dumb idea would use the mobile authenticator. If you don't like to use it than steam would not be held responsible and it would be your own fault if your account ever gets breached and your stuff stolen.

I don't want to give up my information and I don't want to use money from my bank account either. I want to sell and buy and trade and earn this stuff.

That's my 2 cents on this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea.

I don't think it is for information.

They just want to force people to use thier broken mobile app.
Add an another something that anyone hates, and then it will be used as an excuse.
They did this once,if you did not used xy super annoying bs system, then do not expect steam support to help you if your account gets stolen, because steam servers are flawless.

This is a two edged topic, because there are two camp of users in this topic:
Nabs, who are going to blame steam for every little ♥♥♥♥,like they download a virus, tell thier friend the password ect and then they are going to cry to valve. <--- Theese kinda users are the reason theese kinda things have been implemented
And then the actual gamers. We do not log in from computers used by the whole family,or download all kinds of ♥♥♥♥ we know little or no about. And the same things are enforced on us as the nabs. Are you an active market flipper? too bad mate,bc some nine year old can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ keep his account safe so everyone has to suck. 15 day in yall ass.

This is such ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I create a listing on 3-27 and it is held until 4-11. This is the biggest pile of steaming ♥♥♥♥ Valve has ever pulled. ♥♥♥♥ them. I can no longer sell my stuff for some money, I can't trade, and they have my personal info. I have had steam guard for three weeks too, which should get rid of all this ♥♥♥♥, but no. They are greedy ♥♥♥♥♥ who want to control everything their users do. First paid mods, now this. That skin in CS:GO you want? No, ♥♥♥♥ you, can't buy it. WAIT 15 DAYS TO SELL THE ONE YOU HAVE THAT YOU DON'T WANT. I hope Valve sees this and gets rid of it immediately. This is the slimiest ♥♥♥♥ ever.

Steam Guard doesn't remove market holds, the mobile authenticator does. Have you set up the mobile authenticator for two-factor authentication, and do you receive market confirmations on your phone?

I heard that other people (and myself) are having issues with gettting items from trades. The same rule applies - 15 days unless you have the mobile authenticator. JUst in case anyone needs any help with their items :)
