Slow Downloads On New PC
I just bought a new gaming PC, and the download speed is very slow, it takes around an hour to download a 1GB game on steam. Is there some way to make the downloads faster, because im planning on buying ark and i dont want to spend a month downloading it.

Depends on what your internet connection can actually do.
What download speed do you get in Steam?
What download speed do you get when you test it on http://www.speedtest.net ?

So, you got 0.64 megabits per second on Speedtest's download?

Then I wouldn't expect great figures on Steam, since it uses a different unit: megabytes and those are read as one eights of one megabit.

Sounds more like your internet is to blame for your slow downloads than your computer.

hmm... Well, is there an option for speeding that up?

You could contact your Internet Service Provider and ask for a better connection.

Or consider changing your ISP altogether.

Well, ok if thats my only option, i might have to resort to it.

Op, the speed of your new pc has nothing to do with your isp (Internet Service Provider) speed. If you want a faster speed, you're going to have to pay for it by upgtading your service plan through your isp.

And remember to hardwire the connection directly from your modem via an ethernet cable as wi-fi speeds can be much slower (if that is your case).
well im on ethernet already, i think i might have a lot of divices on the network hogging up my bandwith, im gonna try disconnecting some when i need to download large files. Though i might need to upgrade my ISP plan.

Hey, i just did another speed test and for some reason, my speed tripled! I got a speed of 1.65mbps this time. IDK why..

Did you finish downloading and installing all the updates for windows? Those may be downloading in the background and hogging the bandwidth.
