Steam keeps deleting itself

I have a Mac that is running OSX Yosemite, and Steam won't stop deleting itself. It happens whenver I turn off or restart my computer, and everytime I close or restart Steam. When it happens, it seems like Steam stays in my application folder, but it is not an actual file. I always keep Steam.dmg on my desktop so I can reinstall it when that happens. It becomes very frustrating, and if anyone knows how to fix it, please tell me! Thank you!

Same here. On macOS Catalina. Seems to be deleting itself when installed on an external drive.
