Check out gamesave manager, backup your game saves then removed the content. In most cases removing local content should not delete the game saves.

It is safe to delete the local game content.

It's safe. Unless the people that made the game linked the game saves in the same folder as the steam game. I dont think any are but if you really want to be sure then use gamesave manager.

It's a trusted website.

As has already been said, most games don't save the save data under SteamApps\common\* in the first place, so uninstalling the game from Steam wouldn't remove the saves. (Although, I did say "most".)

You can also use http://pcgamingwiki.com for save game data locations if you want to be sure.

Even in this case, its safe. Steam deleted files it downloaded. That means that if tyr game added files itself, they remain. While I don't really like this behaviour because this leads to tons of junk logs from uninstalled games, it makes sure game saves remain even if the game uses its own folder.

If saves behave similarly to mods when it comes to vanilla file removal, then I suppose you're right indeed.

Like I said, I don't particularly like being right in this case though :acleap:
