(Banned)
I keep seeing "(Banned)" after peoples names in various forums. What exactly does it mean? Are the banned from that thread? That forum? All forums?

Not talking about VAC ban.

Interesting. It seems there are degrees based on the severity of the violation.

The main forum (this one and its sub-sections) is a single forum, others are game-based discussion hubs if I remember correctly.

yeah the ban was annoying i love everything about computers (hardware software malware viruses) so i just found it very interesting and wanted to share gow such a small program could destroy a whole computer thinking about it i can see why i was banned but i still think it was overkill :steamsalty:

(banned) means the user is banned from the forum either temporaily or permanently.

This is mostly what I was thinking about. I see it quite often in Off Topic, usually for people trying to be clever/edgy/funny, so I was wondering how far the ban went.

There are different types of bans that are handed out depending on the severity of the violation. Users that wear a red '(banned)' tag are currently banned from the hub the tag is showing up in.

And any sub-section (Help & Tips, VAC Discussion, etc) is considered as a single forum, correct? Other than that, it's just single game hubs.

All the main forums (Help & Tips, Off-Topic, the language forums, etc.) all belong to the Steam hub, so a ban from the Off-Topic forum will also block you from posting in the Help & Tips sub-forum.
Same goes for any hub: A ban from one sub-forum affects your posting privileges for the whole hub.
