Shutdown Windows automatically upon Steam Client exit.
Title says it all.

I am building a computer that will have Windows 7 or 10 as the main OS; however, upon startup the Steam Client will launch automatically into full-screen Big Picture mode.

This is pc will only be used for gaming.

I would like for the Windows OS to shutdown automatically when I exit the Steam Client.

I have tried to do this using Windows Task Scheduler. The trigger is an Event ID (Steam Client exit), and calling the following application: C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe

This does not work.

Any suggestions? Keep in mind I have minimal programming knowledge.

Thank you.

Use Big Picture's option to shut the system down. It's right there on the power button.
Yes, I understand that option is available. I just wanted to make sure the Windows OS shuts down if someone accidentally selects Exit Steam.

Is there any reason why the Windows taskbar is visible when I am running Big Picture mode? I know I can set the taskbar to auto-hide; however, I wasn't sure if there was an option in Steam that I am missing.

Thank you.

For my Linux system I'd create script with 2 commands to perform such task: "steam; poweroff". And run this script instead os Steam client at startup. I bet, you can use the similar approach for Windows.

Not only bet, this is entirely possible and quite easy.
It would be something like
start "" /wait D:\Steam\Steam.exe [insert whatever options for Steam you might want] shutdown /s /t 00 /f
