Can't buy cases because of trade lock
I have a trade lock due to accidentally turning off steam guard. I want to do CSGO unboxings for my twitch stream and can buy keys but have no way of getting cases. Any tips?

Unfortunetly it wasn't me who turned it off that's the sad part.

If someone in my school saw my account logged in when I was using the restroom and he turned off steam guard in an attempt to make it his, is that considered hijacking and can I report this and possibly get a shorter ban

No. Steam takes a "Account Security is the user's resonsibility" approach. Plus you'd have no way of proving what happened.

Steam Guard Not Enabled
We require Steam Guard to be enabled for 15 days to help protect your items and Steam Wallet funds from being misused by someone who may have illicitly obtained your password. If you have not had Steam Guard enabled for 15 days, you will be unable to trade or use the Community Market. Accounts that currently have Steam Guard disabled will be unable to trade and use the Community Market.

You can open a Support ticket and if the other person has a Steam account Valve may punish them. Regardless of what happens to the other person, you're stuck with the 15 day cooldown.

Just another reason for me to be frustrated with valve :( I've been using steam and given thousands as a loyal customer and they have black and white views on everything without reaching out to the people. I really wish they were an IPO so they actually had investors to answer to

To be fair though, if they started making exceptions like that then they would be flooded with legit, fake, and malicious excuses like that. It would be a bad precedent to set and the ramifications would ripple throughout

How is it Valve's fault that you left your account open for anybody to access? Corporations aren't babysitters, if you're old enough to have a steam account/purchase things on it, you should have a little common sense.

But I should be able to trade if I opt out of steam guard. It's not valves fault for any of this. It's the systems that are long and tedious. Valve is penalizing the majority for the minority. It's like a gym teacher saying you all have to run laps because one kid didn't participate. What good does it do for those who follow the rules.

I can verify my identity and my credit card has a long line of history with valve. Most scammers do not even use their own credit card, have no history on it, or cannot prove their identity. And if a scammer goes to lengths to make a fake ID of the person the same day of the hijacking then that deserves applause
