Will i be banned if i use Bluestacks the whole time im in a game?
Alright so first of all this isnt my main account. im scared they will remove my other acc couse i have over 180 games, and i got some games over 800 hours so.. i rly dont want to loose my account.
So why i use bluestacks?
Im trading tf2 items and you guys know that it tells u to confirm your trade on your mobile phone . i use bluestacks instead its like android on pc. if i play a game on steam while this is open in my desktop will something happen?

I don't see them reading it as a cheat signature, no.

But I do think trading won't be here for long when everyone bypasses made security measures.

One option proposed was to simply remove trading. The Steam Market already accounted for the vast majority of virtual goods exchanged by Steam users. We even generate revenue off those transactions, which helps cover the cost of fraud, unlike person-to-person trades. And removing trading was by far the easiest solution to implement. But we felt that was a bad choice for users. Another easy choice would have been to require two-factor authentication for trading, but that's bad for the same reasons as removing it entirely. It's important that you can give a friend a TF2 weapon when he comes to try out the game, or give a friend the last trading card she needs to craft a game badge.

While I doubt this would happen that easily, and while I understand that some people have to use Bluestacks because they simply don't own an iOS / Android -device. I doubt this works in favor of the implemented either way.

Then again, they could just bring out that Windows Phone -support and possibly those other authenticators,

I don't have a phone. Can I still use the mobile authenticator?
Not at this time. Support for standalone authenticators is being considered, but is not available today.

Sorry, it's probably more my personal hatred for this tactic than anything else really.

No, that's not what I'm saying, and I doubt you will be banned at all for using it.

You should know that using your PC for the second authentication factor, you're killing the security that comes with the whole 2FA principle. Just sayin'.

A software workaround is never as secure as a hardware counterpart.

It bypasses your trade holds, which are in for security reasons.

Yes, it does. One of the most common methods of stealing an account is malware on the user's PC.

Which you now have the mobile authenticator on.

its valve fault they did this and what if ppl doesnt have a phone? yes ok u should have a phone its 2016 but what if ppl doesnt? this is the only way they can do this.
Snapjak Feb 13, 2016 @ 8:21am
People can still trade without a phone. They just get a hold placed on items.
