Verifying Game Cache & Integrity Doesn't Do Anything
Lately I've been having bad lag problems in one of my favorite games (Awesomenauts, incase you were wondering), and so I asked for help on the forums. One of many solutions I received was attempting to verify the game cache. I've noticed that whenever I do this, it tells me that 1 file was missing, and will be reaccquired.. And that's all. It doesn't give me a loading bar or tell me what file, it just tells me a file is missing. Confused, I tried verifying it again, and it still tells me a file is missing, and will be reaccquired.

Download the Beta then try, if not revert back to stable and try again.

Try to reinstall steam if you have the time for it.

Have you tried completely wiping and reinstalling the game? I'm guessing you have, but figured I'd ask.

1. Right click game in library > Delete Local Content.
2. Open Windows Explorer and see if the Awesomenauts folder still exists. If it does, delete it. (I'm guessing the location will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Awesomenauts).
3. Go back to your Steam library and reinstall the game.

If the problem still exists and it still won't verify after that, there is something *really* *really* wrong.

After a COMPLETE reinstall of Awesomenauts, there is still a missing file. And verifying fails to do anything.

That may just be your configuration file. Sometimes when you verify your cache it will restore your config file (where things like graphics settings are stored) to default.

I ended up reinstalling Steam, but in the process I saved my steamapps folder. Is there a way that I can just paste my old steam apps folder into my new one and not have to install my old games?

Sure, it's just copy&paste.

I've done this, but none of my games are appearing as installed.

If you try to launch a game, it should detect the files, verify them, re-download any missing/corrupt files then allow you to play

By launch do you mean install? Because that's the only option I have.

Alright, I just tried installing CS:GO and it does say "discovering pre-existing files for CS:GO" this time.

Yep that's what should happen.

I've noticed that with games like Fallout 4 it seems to be going through the normal installation process..
