My two cents: build, don't buy. Building will give you more and better options in the future, when your build starts showing age.
Also newegg is often pricier than comparable outlets on many things. Good for building a list, but not so good for minimizing costs.

That site will search a number of retailers, including newegg, for pricing. Might help you get something better than you thought you could make yourself.
Seven years ago when I built my last PC I only used tigerdirect but it seems dead that is the same computer I am using for steam games now but it is lacking in so many departments.
Cost is a real big factory like they say a happy wife is a happy life, spending a tremendous amount of money on a computer I will only use for gaming will not make her happy, in her eyes it is unnecessary we share two different views on that.
If I do go with the pc route how do you feel about ubuntu 14.04 I currently use it on all my pc's for just normal everyday things and my desktop for gaming, just curios to how you feel about linux and steam gaming?
I didn’t plan to build a steam machine but to buy one not sure what Vulcan API is so you lost me on that one as well.

Is the heat sink I have selected necessary or will the stock one get me threw? Will I be able to play virtually any game with this setup?
I know DayZ is, it runs terrible on AMD CPUs.
It runs 2.83x faster on Intel CPUs.
You're welcome. I used it recently and found it pretty helpful. If you've got space a full tower is nice to have. All that room alone will help keep things cool, even if you can't afford to throw a whole lot at it yet, and it'll be a lot easier to keep clean and expand down the road. Lots of other stuff might change or improve relatively quickly, but a nice big case will serve you for a loooong time.
22.58fps on AMD FX 8000.
64.00fps on Intel Core i5/i7.
