Steam window stays fullscreen.
Even if you go back to "window" mode, it stays at fullscreen. The only fix I am aware of is reducing your monitors resolution, then go to window mode and then switch back your monitors resolution.

But seriously? It's 2016, this is Steam (Valve) and this bug is around for years. Why is there no "real" fix for this yet?

There's no full screen mode except Big Picture which is designed to be full screen and cant run in windowed mode.

Open Steam, tab of your choice. Watch the upper right corner. What do you see there? Minimize "_" ; Square/double square for window/fullscreen; x to close.

Since it uses the full screen => fullscreen mode.

Its "maximized". Anyway, I think that you've merely forgotten to resize the Steam window after un-maximizing.

Steam stuck in full screen (maximized), even when you click window mode. Yes its a bug and the above fix of lowering your screen res then clicking the "window" button then re-upping the screen resolution and finally clicking the "window" button again will get it to run not full screen a.k.a. maximized but normal windowed. Thx for tip ! < This is not Big Picture mode FYI & has nothing to do with that mode.
