eBay seller asking for Steam account details
[Removed]

I ran across this auction today and tried to report it to eBay, but quelle surprise, they dont want to know. This seller expects the purchaser to provide them with both User Name and Password to the buyers Steam account in order for Rocket League to be activated on their Steam account. Obviously it is a bad idea for anyone to give over their Steam account details, but it also got me wondering what it is they do in order to activate the games and get all the positive feedback? Also, is there someone or somewhere to report this activity? eBay says that this does not break their selling policy, but i am sure it does Steam.

I would not be surpised if they used family sharing or just a key xD

Family Share does not work that way, most likely an activation of a region locked coy.

Where do they say that?
Did you try reporting?

Oh yeah, they probably use a VPN or something. That account would get locked or something.

I have reported it but when you do eBay takes you through a few menus and does not ask for specifics or even allow you to type a message. This is the sellers policy for all the games they sell on eBay, not just this one. They have over 6000 positive feedback from people who have handed over their steam accounts to these Chinese guys. Surely Valve can do something to stop them?

No, it's a external issue, Valve can't do crap.

Maybe contact the devs of the game, they might be able to track down the keys any future ones. With some help from valve, also maybe someone from valve will check this out and look into it.

NEVER share your account details with anyone.
Don't buy keys from shady sites. If something seems too good to be true. It is.
