BSOD when downloading/installing games. (NETIO.SYS)
Hello. I have a weird issue with Steam - I get a blue screen on my computer every time I turn on Steam and start downloading games. It's very infuriating because it lengthens the process of installing a game, and restarting the computer so often is just tiresome.

I tried out many fixes that helped others, but they didn't seem to do anything for me. I updated my drivers using ITL Driver Updater, my Windows is up to date too, I turned off my antivirus (Bitdefender), I also tried reinstalling Steam, but none of these things helped me and I still run into the same issue.

The error I get is System_Service_Exception (NETIO.SYS). Note that it doesn't occur when I'm playing Steam games, nor when I'm downloading in different clients or a web browser. Is there anything I can do without reinstalling the system from the ground up?

Work your way through this page. It may resolve your issue.

Alright, I limited my download speed in downloading settings and it's all stable now. I don't know why, but it's working. Now i need to figure out how to remove the cap and still have it working.

I got the same issue, it doesn't happen if the game needs less than 3GB of downloading. Will try out the download speed cap.

I'll be damned, it worked. Lowered the limit to 10 MB/s and if before it had BSOD in every 3-5 minutes when downloading from 3 to 8 GB of a 21 GB game, then the last 13 went without any hitch.

Many thanks, mikistroz!

Got similar problem, was downloading a game to my C driver with full speed :/ I'll try to cap and see if it solves the issue. Happy to know I'm not the only one.

Check your LAN/WLAN drivers.
