Missing Textures blocking first person view
Starting up sandbox in GMod, I'm suddenly getting missing textures blocking the whole screen. HUD and weapons still work, but I can not see anything. Pausing the game and suiciding allows me to see the map and my character model, but when I respawn, missing textures still blocks the screen. Any suggestions to help with this?

That means you don't own or have properly installed all the correct props and games.

Do you own any other Source games? you have to have at least one (usually TF2 will do because it's free, but CSS, half life 2+the episodes, day of defeat source, etc.) installed.

They do have to be *legally owned* on your account.

Errors that show up that are huge red text are supposed to be a model: so a gun, a prop of any kind, even your character model. Textures that are missing are pink and black squares.

I have CSS, and what I am encountering is actually the missing textures obscuring my screen, not errors.

Which means you need other resources.

Are you on a specific map? Did you check to see whether any of the things you're playing with require other games?

Also, go in to each and every Source game that you have mounted in Gmod, and VERIFY the game files, including Gmod itself, and then RESTART steam. If you do have the proper files, they might be broken somehow.

Of course, Gmod DID just update very recently and literally every major update they've had since garry's mod 9.0 like 15 years ago, has broken something and needs to be fixed right after. It may just be ... broken.

Were the items visible normally and without any trouble on that same map before now? Or is this the first time you're using the game / that map / some downloaded thing?

This occurs on every map I've started a game in, including the default GM_Construct. If it's a mounting issue, I'll check it out soon. If that doesn't fix it, I could just wait it out.

What specific player model are you using? Maybe it's broken, if it's a non-kleiner.

I have a lot of playermodels, from a Pop Team Epic skin to MGS style PMC. But they show up fine when the game is paused. The missing textures just covers up the whole screen, but HUD elements are still visible. I also checked to see if CSS was mounted, and it is mounted to gmod. At this point, I'm thinking that I'll just wait it out until this gets fixed, or reinstall gmod at a later date.

Yeah that is super weird. Did you go over to either the gmod section here in the Steam forum or... gods forbid, the facepunch forums? (I avoid that place like it has all the plagues in the world, so I don't know what it's like right now)

No. Again, I'm content with waiting out the storm. Thanks for attempting to help me out here.

Hopefully it'll get fixed. I did have a similar issue but it was with an hl2 mod outright, not gmod, quite a while back. I still don't know what broke with it, but my rocket launcher *rockets* were errors, which was pretty hysterical.
