VX4 Game Controller Not Working On Steam

Hi,

I would greatly appreciate some help on this as I am quite literally tearing my hair out trying to get my new VX4 game controller to work on steam.

Firstly, there is no problem with the controller itself. Using windows + R and joy.cpl I tested the control and everything works

Secondly, in Steam big screen controller settings I have "PlayStation Configuration Support" enabled and Steam shows the detected controller as "PlayStation 4 Controller"

Yet the control simply does not seem to do anything. In all the online examples as soon as Steam detects the controller you can start using the controller within big screen mode. This doesn't happen for me.

This is also true when I try play any of the games even if the "Controller Configuration" is set to "Gamepad With Camera Controls". Absolutely nothing happens when I try use the controller and I am forced back to using my mouse and keyboard.

I was able to finally resolve this by deleting the existing controller configuration which I did by deleting the "SDL_GamepadBind" setting in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config\config.vdf and then getting Steam to re-detect the controller after enabling "Generic Gamepad Configuration Support" and then mapping each of the controller buttons
