Most games do not offer button prompts for Sony gamepads.

Some developers do included PS prompts such as Arkane with Prey (2017), Creative Assembly with Alien Isolation and Milestone with Motogp 23.
Silly I know but it works.

Valve has recently vastly improved how the Dualshock gamepads are handled.
i already stated that i tried that, it just disables the controller alltogether
most games that i have DO support ps4/5 controllers, but steam being the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ they are, somehow dont show the proper prompts and sometimes ♥♥♥♥ up the bindings
most games that i have support ps4/5 controllers, but show xb prompts and inputs. for example, far cry 6, bf1/5/2042, mk11, mk1, and more
Games supporting controllers has zero to with whether the developer actually included PS prompts because if they did not then you will see XB prompts.
For example the Dishonored series by Arkane does not show PS prompts when a PS controller is connected, XB prompts are shown, whereas Prey (2017) by the same developer, Arkane does show PS prompts when a PS controller is connected because Arkane included PS controller support.
If a game has native (ie. built-in) support for Dualshock, then Steam has nothing to do with the bindings. Steam Input for that game must be completely disabled otherwise the game will think you are using an Xbox controller and show Xbox glyphs.
Some games only *natively* support Dualshock controllers when plugged in with a usb cable.
It's extremely frustrating, as I prefer using DS4Windows instead, which lets me map my DS5 controllers as a DS4 (and not X360 at least), but it keeps clashing with Steam whenever it's running.
I don't understand how after all these years since Steam input was implemented it's so difficult to have functional way of disabling it altogether for people who wish to utilise the game's native controller support.
I'm afraid to tamper with the settings since those "layouts" were introduced last year. Initially it was hellish trying to work with those and a DS controller where the game natively supported DS.
I can't remember what I did, but I've definitely got Steam Input disabled globally, although I also manually disable it via the properties of every individual game I install.
