GTA 5 Verify
Hello everyone, I have the problem that Steam verifies GTA 5 for me and it takes a very long time. It always says that it is still 4 days or sometimes less than 1 year. The speed also says 0b/s or something like that. I have already changed the region to Iceland because the download speed is great there. I don't know what else to do. I also install the whole thing on an external 2 TB hard drive and otherwise it never took long and it was never verified beforehand. Please help.

Download speed is irrelevant with verification as that is done completely locally.
The USB protocol is the main bottleneck for this IO heavy process.
The possibly slower HDD in the case doesn't help either.

So is it because of the external hard drive that it takes so long?

And the USB connection to it. It certainly doesn't help.

You have multiple possible bottlenecks:
1. The USB controller of your mainboard.
2. The USB cable
3. The USB controller of the external drive case
4. The external drive itself.

This is already very simplified.
And if it's multiple at once, then you have a crappy experience.

Ok thanks for the info. I deleted my download cache now. when it doesnt work then i download it on my intern plate.
