GTA V Download Error - 'CORRUPT UPDATE FILES'

After four download and installation attempts, I decided to seek help here.

I'm trying to download GTA V, but every time the download is finished, I get the error "CORRUPT UPDATE FILES." If I press the retry button next to this error code, it tries to verify the game files but fails.

I have already tried the following solutions:

• Renaming/deleting Steam's downloading folder
  
• Removing cache files
  
• Selecting another download region
  
• Checking my drive for errors

My free space on my hard drive is 400GB, which should be plenty. I have a stable (wireless) internet connection and have downloaded other games with large file sizes in the past months without errors.

After four times waiting for hours to see this error message, I'm done with it. Is there anyone willing to help? Any suggestions?
