Search option on own gamelist that sort what year game was made?

I have 1000 games about(not only this accont).. most are not installed...
now that i bought new pc i install games again... but i wish sometimes there was a option to search own games on their release date.... so i not have to check shop page for every game i forgot everything about and what year it was made to see if its even point to reinstall it and try again. :)

a custom tag on the already good steam game sorter at own game list where you put in manual the year should make this possible without much effort from skilled steam developers:)

You can add a "shelf" in your Steam Library and sort by "release date."

under advanced search filters? hm i do not see "self" or release date there .hm

Does your library have an 'Uncategorized' folder? Or any folder? Just click it, then in the dropdown sort by release date.

i have this uncategorized folder and one installed folder..
when i click them it only show my games sorted alphabetically..

there is no option for release date... not on the clock icon(last played) or the advanced filter..

there is no drop down options.. there is only the list of the games sorted from A to Z

oh.. release date option is in the main window (or right of the list) .. ah .. i tough the list itself sorted itself after release date.. it does not..

i noticed it 2sec after i posted.. i edited it and you replied meanwhile...

still i hoped the left list itself also sorted itself.. but nah. the icon list is better.. easier to see what i got:) ..then its solved.. hm should i remove this from tips folder in steam threads?
guess others might search and figure this little thing out if they not have already..

Using categories and shelves to organize games is very useful as is MiniHerc's excellent suggestion. Here is a video explaining Shelves if you are interested.

I happened to notice that sorting by "release date" seems to be somewhat buggy. For example Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands 1 & 2, and Skyrim get sorted as having an "unknown" release date even though that info is clearly shown in their store pages. Is anyone else experiencing this?
