USB gear knob not recognised in ets2

I have purchased a H shifter USB gear knob and installed it on my gear lever, I go into windows hardware and it is there as a Generic USB joystick and all the buttons work fine. I open up ATS and go to options and in the drop down menu there is the Generic USB joystick, once high lighted I go into the button config and everything is fine it all works as it should and I have been driving around happily.
But when I go into ETS2 and look in the drop down menu the Generic USB joystick is not there and no matter what I try it just refuses to find it, can some please help as this is driving me mad!!!!!

Amazing, just as you said, I disabled steam input and all the different controllers I have connected are in the menu. I have now selected and configured my gear knob and it is working fine. Many thanks for stopping me from going mad.
