Steam Family Sharing on Steamdeck
Hi, my younger sister and I both have steamdecks and I want to share my game library with her. However I have some violent games that I don't want her to have access to. I have turned on Family View for my account and added a few non-violent games to my Family Games. When I added my account to her steam deck, I turn on Family Sharing and slid the slider to blue for her account on her deck. Now when she opens the library in her account on her deck she sees all of my games in my account including the violent games, not just the family games. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.

You need to set up Family View on her account.

Ok, I gave that a try, turning on her family sharing made no difference. I've double checked my account, it specifically has several games that are family games, when I go into my account on my deck after a restart I see only those game, when i put in my pin i see the whole library, exactly as one would expect. However on her deck, when she logs on into her account she sees my full library not the limited selection i see before i enter the pin. something isn't working either with my account or just how steam family sharing works.

Family View isn't the same feature as Family Sharing. You don't need a PIN for Family Sharing.

You need to turn on Family View on her account. Family View is the feature that restricts content.

ok, thanks, now I get it. I guess I have a choice of turning on family view on my account, picking the ok games, and then letting her usemy account to play the games on her deck or I put family library sharing on the deck and then turn on family view for her to limit what she can play but she would effectively be locked out of her account because i would control what she can see and only i could know the pin otherwise if she entered it she would see the whole library. Me controlling her pin won't go down well at this point, lol. It's a shame that you can't control which games are shared via family library sharing, it seems to be all or nothing at this point. I guess I thought it worked differently. Super thanks for helping me figure this out.

Yup! Family Sharing is all or nothing unless you activate Family View on the borrowers account, since Family View only restricts the content on the account it is enabled on.
