How to change your REGION for purchasing software on steam?
I am trying to change my region, as I have changed countries, but it is really unclear how to do this, and Stream Support is absolutely USELESS. They keep closing my tickets without explanation or providing assistance.

Has anyone been able to change their REGION successfully and be willing to tell me how?

TIA

Support tickets being closed without a response is typically a sign that your account is compromised. Support always provides a response even when they can't help you. They'll tell you that they can't help you. So if you're not getting any response, take steps to secure your account.

As for the changing currency, you simply need to make a purchase with a payment method that is tied to your new region.

It's tied to where you payment method is registered to.

Go to Settings > Account
or click https://store.steampowered.com/account/

Under the STORE & PURCHASE HISTORY heading, bottom right portion you'll see update country, click it and you'll see

UPDATE STORE & WALLET COUNTRY
Your country is part of your Steam account settings. Your country setting affects what you see on the Steam store, the currency you see prices in, and the currency of your wallet.

If you have moved to a new country, or are living abroad for an extended period of time, you can update your Steam country setting when you complete your first purchase using a payment method from that country. If your location differs from your current Steam account store country setting you'll have an option to change your store region while you view your cart or as you complete your purchase.

If you are unable to complete a purchase using a payment method from the region you have moved to please contact Steam Support.

I have a similar issue and am run up a wall trying to resolve this.

I've recently moved country and have been unable to use the payment method that has a local billing address. I first was able to add the payment details to my account successfully (I got the test charge from Valve). When I hit purchase it says working for an instant and then it says "an unexpected error has occurred. Please try again in a few minutes or contact steam support if this happens repeatedly". It's since removed the payment method from my account and gives me the same error when I attempt to add it to my account (I use this payment method frequently- there are no issues with it)

It's happened repeatedly and I've contacted Steam support who just close the ticket after saying that they've provided all available information. They repeat that I'm not using a payment method that matches the country that I am in which is untrue. I set the Steam Store Region to the country I'm currently in, I put in my billing address correctly, and I'm not using a VPN.

Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone know the solution to this?

Have a valid billing address from the region.
Have the currency from the region.
Have a payment method (usually a Bank Card) from said region.
Then you can change your Steam Store region.

Yes so I've done all of those things and it still comes up with the same error as OP.

Edit: Sorry got this mixed up with another discussion- ignore the OP comment. But yes I do have a valid billing address, the bank account is in the currency of the country I'm currently in.

Were you able to fix this? I'm having the same issue. Support didn't help, they just closed my case. I provided a valid billing address, payment method, and currency to make a payment... didn't work. I'm not using a VPN too.
