Locked out of my Steam Account, but can't get a response from Support
Hi,

I am posting here because I have no other means of accessing support. I have been locked out my main Steam account. I have not logged into it in a good year, so I need to reset the password. But my account is seemingly ineligible for a password reset; Steam tells me to contact support. Having spent far too long navigating ReCaptchas that don't accept my input, I managed to submit a Steam support ticket two weeks ago. But I have heard nothing since. When I go to submit a follow-up ticket, it tells me that I cannot have duplicate tickets in the system.

Does anybody have any advice? Has anybody had success getting back into their account after the password reset tool failed? (I have access to the email tied to the account, of course.)

Thanks,

Ben

If you have acces to your tied email you should be able to reset the password by yourself. Just go to recovery page, put your email and hit the button. You should get a email from steam with a link to set a new password.

I also had this problem. I got lucky after many tries. I hope Ionut is correct.

The Captcha was very difficult. It should be easy.
Thanks both - but no, when I eventually get through the Captcha and then click the verification link sent to my email, it tells me that 'Self-recovery is not available for this account because additional security verification is required. Please contact Steam Support for assistance'.

But there is absolutely no way to contact Steam Support! Have been frozen out of my account.
An update in case anyone in a similar position ever stumbles upon this thread:

I used this separate Steam account to submit a support ticket in relation to the other account I was locked out of, and the ticket was resolved quickly - thanks, Steam Support!

Thanks for noting. Does seem to mean that the "Self-recovery is not possible" situation wants to provide an actual way to then "Please contact Steam Support". Rather infuriating otherwise if you've finally solved some horrendous captcha.

I also ran into the problem with Captcha, I was trying to make another steam account and spent 20 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes filling out Captcha over and over every time it would give me a green check then as I submit it, tells me the Captcha is invalid. What an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke. Then it finally said "Your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now. For more details visit our help page." Now it wont let me attempt to make an account now. Absolutely fuming over this for no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason because of steams ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Captcha system.
