Steam cloud issues with Witcher 3
I've been playing Witcher 3 on my PC and have been having no issues. But I recently bought a Steam Deck and have been playing it on there too when I'm away from home. Ever since then I've been having issues with the cloud saves. Sometimes it won't upload the most recent save from my deck. Other times, it won't upload the most recent save from my PC. And then sometimes it works perfectly just like it should. Either way it's a giant pain in the butt and I haven't been able to figure out a rhyme or reason to it. Anyone able to help me get this fixed?

Make a backup copy of your saves instead of using cloud.
Just copy out saves and name the folder which that saves belongs to.
Cloud is always tricky to use as mentioned above. I wont use it for this reason.
All my saves for all games are saved to external USB drive for safety.

An external drive would be a giant pain in the butt for moving back and forth between a steam deck.

Rishtaiwi thank you for all the steps. I tried them all and none of them worked. It SAYS that it's uploading files to the cloud and that everything is working correctly. But if I go into the cloud saves on my browser, or if I get on my steam deck, the saves aren't there.

Of course they don't, since you are responding to useless generic ChatGPT garbage. Which unfortunately wouldn't be too say I've myself much useful to add, but perhaps other than me recently while experimenting around with cloud-saves having noticed quite a bit of cacheing of state to be going on, certainly as to the web-view of your remote storage; I a few times had to close down the syncing Steam client and logout plus close down the browser with which I viewed remote storage to see things updated.

Remote storage web-view is not your main issue, and it would be a bug, but as such; does anything improve if you fully close down Steam on the PC after a reportedly successful sync and supposedly more to the point, if you restart Steam on the Deck if that's a thing at all or restart the Deck outright? And/or in fact make sure you sync PC-sides with the Deck shut down?

As said, that would still be classified a bug, but maybe it could at least identify it as a state cacheing one as I also seemed to observe.

So I did some more testing. If I play Witcher 3 on my deck, the saves upload to the cloud and I can pick up right where I left off on my pc. If I play on my pc the saves don't upload, and I can't pick up where I left off at on my deck. I also tried several other games and they all worked fine. It's only the Witcher 3 that is doing this.

I put in a support ticket to steam. Will see when they get back to me. Ive tried shutting down steam, rebooting the computer, verifying files, etc. I think at this point I may try reinstalling Witcher 3. Other than that I'm out of ideas until Valve gets back to me.

Odd. Especially with you specifying that it seems to be getting uploaded. No suggestions either...

Yeah that's what is so weird. It says it's uploading and it says the cloud is up to date. But it is definitely not.

One more update. I played the game on my PC. Saved. Jumped to steam deck, latest save is not there. Went back to my PC and deleted the game and reinstalled. Installation of course forced a steam cloud sync. Jumped on my steam deck and my latest save was there! Thought "sweet, that fixed it!"

Played some more on my PC and once again, latest save isn't showing up on my deck.

So it appears if I want to sync the saves I need to delete and reinstall every time I'm done playing on my PC. Not exactly ideal, even with pretty good internet. It's that or just not play it on my deck.

For some reason, if you change graphics settings then syncing stops working.
