PS4 Controller suddenly showing xbox inputs
Hey, i'm needing helo, i've been using my ps4 controller for well over a year on steam and randomly yesterday my games showed me the games are only "mostly playable with your controller".

I updated my drive yesterday and that fixed it, yet today the same has happened and no matter what i do it's stuck showing me xbox inputs.

Any help would be very much appreciated

Sounds like you're experiencing the new setting for PlayStation Controller Support. It's set to "Enabled in Games w/o Support" by default, so Steam will be translating the PS controller to Xbox/X-input in games w/o PS support but also in games that devs are yet to mark as having PS support.

That global setting is found at Steam > Settings > Controller > PlayStation Controller Support. You could change it to 'Not Enabled'.

Or you could disable Steam's translation on a per-game basis:
Right-click game in Steam Library > Properties > Controller > set the override to 'Disable Steam Input'.

Some info on the changes for PS controllers:

Old topic but the situation still hasn't improved.

The driver support is in there somewhere, we just need a default template to enable remapping of the controller AS WHAT IT IS instead of AS SOMETHING IT IS NOT.
I am sure I played Dark Souls 3 with DS4 input 3 years ago. Now I tried with Elden Ring and all it shows is xbox inputs. Reinstalled DS3 to check, xbox too.
I am losing my desire to play as I get stressed trying every fking option to try to force ps input
