Report a translation problem
That global setting is found at Steam > Settings > Controller > PlayStation Controller Support. You could change it to 'Not Enabled'.
Or you could disable Steam's translation on a per-game basis:
Right-click game in Steam Library > Properties > Controller > set the override to 'Disable Steam Input'.

The driver support is in there somewhere, we just need a default template to enable remapping of the controller AS WHAT IT IS instead of AS SOMETHING IT IS NOT.
