Steam Crash on Launch
Looking for some ideas on how to fix my client.

Last time it was working, about two weeks ago, the last thing I did was turn on Big Picture Mode and Beta (mode?). After that I closed the steam client. Every time I launch it- steam updates, and then launches in BPM but crashes after about 1 second.

I've been told there are no ways to change the settings for BPM or beta mode without being in the client, which isn't an option since I never make it to the client. Are there ways around that?

I 've gone through basic troubleshooting and advanced troubleshooting.

Here's this stuff...

**Step 1: Disable Steam Beta Participation**
I can't launch steam, so I can't complete this step.

**Step 2: Update Graphics Drivers**
done

**Step 3: Verify Steam Integrity**
set to "Run this program as an administrator", clicked apply, then OK.
Launched steam. Steam Error window popped up, it says "Windows is currently running Steam in Windows Compatibility Mode which can cause issues with some Steam features and running games. Please follow the instructions below to remove compatibility mode..."
I clicked continue.
Steam launches in BPM and crashes.

**Step 4: Disable Third-party Antivirus or Firewall Temporarily**
done

**Step 5: Reset Steam Settings**
Cannot find installlation directory or "userdata" folder. Search results for userdata are located in C:\Windows\WinSxS or C:\Windows\servicing or C:\Windows\SysWOW64
Under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ the files are:
appcache, bin, clientui, config, controller_base, dumps, friends, graphics, logs, package, public, resource, servers, steam, steamui, tenfoot.

**Step 6: Contact Steam Support**
I'll do this.

It’s not a great solution, but I created a new user on my pc and launched steam from there and it has the standard steam settings. On that windows user profile, it doesn’t launch in BPM or beta mode!

I did try to copy the userdata file from the new profile to relapse the old one, but it still launched and crashed in BPM.
