Your options to deal with this are limited, and Steam never received information about your EA account. The obvious idea would be to go to the EA website and perform a login using the Steam account -- unfortunately, doing so will send a verification mail to the mail address registered to that account, and the EA page only reveals a partial address (i.e. lots of letters are masked).
Still, in order for you to link your Steam account, you must have been able to use that EA account. Maybe even the masked address will juggle your memory? Or maybe the EMail will just arrive.
Also, EA should have a support procedure to recover accounts where the access to the EMail is no longer possible. Initially, he said he doesn't know the EMail -- now he does.
