Does steam support use bots?
I have been trying to purchase Darktide for the last week but I think my steam is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because it doesn't allow me to change my currency after moving to Canada from Turkey, even when I am using a card from a Canadian bank and no VPNs.

I asked steam support what to do, but I have been getting the same response for 4 times now. I already tried what the support messages were saying even before my first attempt at reaching them and I made that clear 3 times, every time using a language meant for more heavily mentally disabled peopel for them to understand, but at this point it feels like I am talking to bots.

Am I just going crazy or does steam support actually use bots for responses. And I would really appreciate it if maybe someone who had a similar problem could give a clue about how to solve this mess.

It's called "boilerplate". Support agents use premade bits because with support request numbers this high, they can not write you a personalised letter.

The requirements for being able to buy in a region are as follows:
1. You have to have a valid billing address from the region
2. You have to have the currency of the region
3. You must have a valid payment method from the region

If you dont meet all of those, then you cannot buy from that region.

Also if your talking about Warhammer 40K: Darktide, the game has bots that will fill in for players if you dont have a full strike team. The bots will never be as good as a well geared player though.

The only "bot" used is for the refund requests. It's an automatic system that looks at the 2 weeks/2 hours. The rest of support is humans, but they do use templated answers. In many cases likely even ones they can select from a menu.

Which is standard practise for any support, since it's quicker. There is no reason to type out personal responses which takes more time and can even lose the essence of the message.

I've seen multiple threads about this subject (changing country and not being able to pay), so there might be something that is going wrong. In your case it might even be related to the currency change in Turkey, which could influence other systems. But since that's a technical thingy within Steam, it's not something Steam Support can talk about anyway.

Steam Support for the most part is outsourced and as said, they simply use scripts.

That's the problem, I have all 3 of those checked out, but I still can't get my purchase through. I have a bank account from CIBC (a Canadian bank) and I have more than enough Canadian Dollars in that account to pay for the game.

And yeah I know Darktide has bots and all but it's as close as I am going to get to a proper fps warhammer game that somewhat works unlike Necromunda, where the only thing deeper then the hive city is the optimization issues.

I wasn't looking for a personalised letter, but I guess I am just disappointed by getting the same response the 4th time, and that response being basicly what I described doing getting thrown back at me as if it was copy pasted from my own message.

If you are right and this really is a tech issue instead of just a localized issue, then it found the perfect ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time to happen right at the Autumn Sale.

There's always another sale. Winter Sale starts a month from now.

You keep getting the same response because they don't have any other response to give you.

I've never gone through the process myself. But you haven't really explained what you get. Just that it doesn't work. Do you get an error? Does the checkout process do anything strange? Maybe it's not a currency change issue at all but something else.

What are you expecting to see and what are you getting?

This being my first purchase in Canada, I followed the steps given to me to change my billing adress to a Canadian one. I changed my Turkish card to the Canadian card, placed in my Canadian adress, and changed my billing adress and currency to Canada just before my purchase as it was written, however I still got an error saying "There has been an error in your purchase, wait for a couple of minutes and try again, or reach out to Steam Support".

At this point I am not even sure if the problem is actually from the adress change or from something else.
