Installing Into An External Hard Drive
I used to be able to install games into an external hard drive. Why does it keep on telling me in yellow the location cannot be changed? It only offers me to install in my C-Drive and I don't want to install there because I've hardly got any space there as it is. I'm unplugged and plugged in my external hard drive and it never helped. I closed Steam and logged back in and it never helped. I rebooted my laptop to refresh everything and that never helped.

Have you tried (re)adding the drive as a storage/Steam Library location?
(Steam > Settings > Storage > from the drop-down, select Add Drive > select drive (or "Let me choose another location" if you prefer to choose where on the drive the library will be created) > Add)

Or is the drive (when connected) already listed on the Storage drop-down?

I am using an M2 Pro Macintosh and want to do the same thing. I have a 2TB external NVMe Thunderbolt 3 drive with massive bandwidth that would be perfect for running my games. I’m currently playing Baldur’s Gate 3 and Stellaris (with a bunch of DLC) and those two games are using up more space than everything else on my internal SSD combined. I’m hoping that there is a simple solution.
