Big Picture Mode error about internet connection while online
I am having an issue with Big Picture Mode that says there is no active internet connection, but I am actively connected to the internet. This happened since the last update to Steam Desktop version. I am using Windows 11 Home x64 Bit

Here is what I see when viewing Steam in Big Picture Mode

Internet
Offline Mode
There is no active Internet connection

Enter Offline Mode

Offline mode is not on, it is just the title scraped from a screenshot.

**Things I have tried**

1. Repairing the installation of Steam using the method found here https://www.minitool.com/news/steam-repair.html

Basically going into command prompt, typing the following command
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe” /repair” and then press Enter.

2. Reinstalling Steam
3. Power cycling the modem
4. Running Steam as Admin

None of these work and I am losing my patience. The games work fine.

Any suggestions?

Hello to all who are still having this issue. Sorry but I don't have a solution or workaround, but I did find something peculiar. If you have Bluestacks installed on Windows 11 Home, vBluestacks ethernet shows up as a connection rather than nothing. I have no clue why this happens because Windows 11 Home does not have Hyper V (virtualization) out of the box and I am using Wifi whenever I use Steam. Anyway, if anyone else uses Bluestacks, let me know if you see this strange thing.

I couldn't help but noticing that the notification for this post in the main screen says the swear word. The actual post doesn't except for when you make a reply. Darn it.

same issue here
same issue
workaround is to go into the steam directory and click on the steamservice.exe
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\steamservice.exe"
admittedly, it is a work around but you can put a shortcut on your desktop to make it quicker.
Same issue here, odd how it only affects Windows 11 and not 10?
I'm on windows 10 and having the same issue. The only work around I found was using a vpn and while it was connecting the option showed up for me.
same issue here
I'm using big picture mode on linux (Fedora) and im also having this issue.

also no internet here 🙋🏻
This problem started for me today in California. My cousin is having the same problem in Big Picture Mode in New York. Help steam.

Update: 6 PCs I've built on Intel 10th and 11th gen processors running windows 11 on both amd and Nvidia gpus have this issue on wifi in Big Picture mode. The only things that have worked in Big Picture Mode is using a VPN (I use SurfShark) or using an Ethernet cable.

Steam doesn't seem to care.

This is the response I got for this issue after contacting support multiple times:

"Along with reports submitted directly to Support, the Steam team uses a number of community sources to help investigate the frequency and severity of issues like this. These issues are continually being addressed through Steam Updates. Support does not provide any information on upcoming or planned fixes.

Again, I am sorry that we do not have a fix for you at this time."

Edit: There are workarounds as FYI - don't use big picture mode or use ethernet connection.
Not great, but what can you do. Steam clearly doesn't intend to fix it - my theory is that this issue is mostly seen in competitor handhelds like ROG Ally and it's not a priority for steam to fix competition.
