Big Picture Mode error about internet connection while online
I am having an issue with Big Picture Mode that says there is no active internet connection, but I am actively connected to the internet. This happened since the last update to Steam Desktop version. I am using Windows 11 Home x64 Bit

Here is what I see when viewing Steam in Big Picture Mode

Internet
Offline Mode
There is no active Internet connection

Enter Offline Mode

Offline mode is not on, it is just the title scraped from a screenshot.

**Things I have tried**

1. Repairing the installation of Steam using the method found here https://www.minitool.com/news/steam-repair.html

Basically going into command prompt, typing the following command
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe” /repair” and then press Enter.

2. Reinstalling Steam
3. Power cycling the modem
4. Running Steam as Admin

None of these work and I am losing my patience. The games work fine.

Any suggestions?

Somebody said it might be from a Windows 11 update, but I do not know.

Try launching Steam with the command -nobigpicture

Steps if needed:

Sorry folks, that's a workaround for a different issue. :D

Will this work if Steam loads automatically at boot?

Have the same issue can still download and games and play them online but says offline lol annoying. Doesn’t recognize controller profile until a game is launched too and then switches to it and changes rgb color.

:steamfacepalm:
Ah ignore me - I didn't read OP properly and assumed it was the issue where Steam would launch with BPM on a network setup process & get stuck there.

I have the same problem. I tried to get advice from the help desk, but I still wasn't able to figure out a solution 😕

I was able to get Big Picture Mode to work on my ROG Ally by updating to the newest Windows version. The network still says disconnected, but I have full functionality of all internet features such as downloading and installing games. Updated to Build 10.0.22631

Have this problem on my Legion Go. Steam also just crashed and since I was sin Big Picture mode it wouldn't open regular when I started it and I had to go through setup in Big Picture which meant it didn't see the WiFi connection. Used an Ethernet connection hooked up to a USB hub and able to get it working, but still weird.

Same issue here and reset your PC or router couldn't fix it.

I've been having the same issue. I've found it helps to just exit big picture mode.
Far from ideal when I use my PC as a console in the lounge room exclusively, but it's a temporary work-around at least

Dec 24th and no solution. I am obviously connected to the internet -- the store works in Big Picture. But it says not active network. It i start Big Picture in offline, it won't let me go back online until I exit -- because no active network -- store still working. Noticed this problem because my Steam Controller stopped working. Controller still isn't working and Windows is telling Steam I have an Xinput controller. If I uninstall the ghost controller, Windows reinstalls it. I am on holidays and I can't play. This sucks.
