How do i recover an 10 year old account?
So i was not old enough to get these kind of things yet, as i lost an old account back in 2014 i believe, i thought i might've been banned or something, i didn't know any better at the time, until here recently, when i tried the whole i forgot my account name or password thing, as i put in my mail and such, no luck, but i remembered my account name just fine, as it showed up on different mail i didn't recognize, so i tried to change the whole thing, but then i got to credentials, which was the worrying part for me, because it was my dad at the time that paid for any steam related things, but no luck my dad didn't have any of his old credit cards, so i dont know what to do, if anyone have been in a similar situation, suggestions it would be appreciated

but will it work if the card itself is new, but is under the same name?
Because it was an old credit card that has been discarded by now

Just curious but did your Dad keep his STEAM purchase e-mails? That's solid proof if he did. I've kept all my e-mails going all the way back to roughly 2013 for things purchased through STEAM.
Archive everything and delete later on what you don't need.

Steam emails aren't proof of ownership.

He wasnt the type to keep those around, as i looked through his email for any steam related thing, and we cant look that far into the past when it comes to transactions apparently, as the only thing ive been able to find was something about the card number itself, you know when you look into you steam buying history, where it displays it was bought with that card that ends on this number **XX something like that, i dont know if that it has any relevance to it, seen as i cant see the whole thing

EDIT:( SRY i meant the 4 last numbers on the card)

all i want to know is, those 3 little numbers at the back of someone's card does it matter if, the card itself is under the same name but the numbers themselves are different, seen as it is a new credit card and all that?

It has to be the old card.

i recovered a few old accounts just telling them a variety of informations on the help ticket. real names used for purchases, usernames, billing adressess and zipcodes. not sure what all they used but i was given the means to change the password afterwards. i had no actual credit card numbers or emai accounts remembered.
that was a couple years back though so not sure if things have changed. have you filed the support ticket already? if not make sure it has as much viable information as you can fremember

You'll have to provide the information requested or work with them for alternatives if you don't have it. Random alternate information (like a different CC) isn't going to do anything for you. Don't substitute, because invariably you'll just be frustrated when they reject your substituted IE incorrect information.

At a certain point if you don't have enough information to prove the account is yours, they won't restore it to you. So all you can do is do your best and not try muddle things in attempt to get the account back at all costs. You're also not the first time someone has lost account details and needs to recover it so instead of worrying about what-ifs just go through the process and see where you land.
Guess ill have to give up then, ive tried a few things like seeing my order history of other things that i was sure the card was used on but all of that has just led to more dead ends, either way i wanna thank all of you guys who gave advice and such

Okay here is a little update i actually got the account back, i went through the whole steam support process thing, as well as explained my situation, so they requested the billing information, with things like the address, the postal or zip code and such, and then the steam support got my 10 year old account back, i was giddy as all hell after that, but there was a slight minus to it tho, the hijacker had apparently stolen som of my TF2 items, from what i remember was in my inventory there was a Bills hat, and a few mann co keys.

Glad you managed to get the account back! Sadly any items or money lost when it was out of your hands are not returned. Report any accounts involved via their profile pages if possible.
