Steam gift restriction

basically I bought a game for myself and sent a game as a gift to my friend (lethal company). I bought the game for him using my debit card and one for myself using my Steam wallet. I ended up refunding the games and when I went to send a new gift I discovered that I have a general gift restriction (?). Support did not tell me the reason for the restriction or how to resolve it.

Are you trying to buy the new gift with your wallet funds?

The restriction on sending gifts only occurs when I try to send gifts using wallet funds.

Buying gifts with wallet funds is restricted to prevent commercial activity. Use an external payment method instead.

Have you already tried to use your debit card again?

but they just unfairly banned me and that's it? because I only send gifts to my friends and there aren't that many, I can even show the entire history. I'm not worried about not being able to send gifts, because I can send them using other payment methods. The problem is that I bought the game for my friend using a debit card and the refund went to my wallet, making it impossible for me to send other games (it's his birthday)

It is not a ban, but a restriction. This restriction applies to everyone.

happened to me, never bouth anything in steam cuz the prices are outrageous here in vnzla. but decided to give lethal company a shot cuz it was cheap and looked really fun, bought mine, went to buy some for my friends, and my acount was locked for some reason, 1 ticket. all good bought 2 gifts. waited some days to get enought to buy the other 2 (cuz we are 5 in total) and surprise. you can no loger gift from your wallet. we wont help you, your tickets will be closed automatically cuz f me i guess?. idk about you but it all looks like a scam, they block me from gifting and have the gall to tell me, hey you can still do it just get a credit card! yeah... like i can get a credit card on venezuela

I don't think so.

You can try contacting support again and explaining your situation. Maybe you'll be lucky and the restriction will be lifted once, but there's no guarantee.

yeah, and they can say i was region hopping or some s like that, we all live in venezuela, minus one in colombia. but the price is the same

In my case, I bought Lethal Company for just one of my friends (who lives 1 km away) for his birthday.

So you used your Steam Wallet to purchase more gifts right after you were told not to?

tbh instead of this vague restriction fraught with uncertainty, Steam Wallet should simply not be a valid choice of payment if the game(s) in question are meant to be a gift.

Unfortunately, the current error message is also very vague. It doesn't tell you about the restriction at all.
