Is it normal for download speed to drop significantly from peak?
Hi,

Whenever i download a game the initial mb/s is always high (60mb/s) but this drops down to around 5mb/s after 5 mins.

Speedtest shows that it's not an issue with my provider: https://www.speedtest.net/result/15720564897

I have also tried clearing DL cache and changing server location.

Is this normal? What mb/s would you expect with the above speeds?

Any advice welcome

Write behind cache can do that on SSD disk.

Your SSD accumulates unwritten data too fast and needs to throttle it to write the data to its cells first.

So my larger hard drive is a HDD - upgrading to SSD would improve performance?

update - it appears to be an issue with the SATA port the HDD was plugged into - i've switched this and am getting consistent 50mb/s - thanks all.
