Steam Placed a Weird Gift Restriction and Left.

I sometimes buy games for a friend as gifts. I was using steam cards since I was not able to buy anything with my credit card. I got this interesting reply from steam support. Anyone knows what this is?

"Hello,

Thanks for getting in touch. I looked at your account, and I do see that you have a general gift purchasing restriction.

You can still purchase gifts and send them to any of your friends if you use a payment method directly to purchase the gift, instead of your Wallet funds. You are free to use your Wallet funds toward making purchases for your own account.

Steam Support is unable to remove this restriction.

As this is all the information we can provide about this gift purchase restriction, I will be closing this ticket. if you have any other issues with Steam, you are welcome to open a new ticket.

Furthermore, any future tickets related to this issue will be closed without a response.

The system suspects commercial usage of wallet funds which is forbidden by the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

There were too many people trying to profit from market revenue by undercutting Valve through offering real money trading ("You give real $$$ I buy game X with wallet $$$ for you").

Because support refused to lift the restriction, using an external payment method (i.e. credit card, paypal, ...) is now required if you wish to gift to a friend. You can still use your wallet balance for your own purposes, however.

Steam has really been cracking down on gift purchases with wallet funds over the last few months.
More then like 1-2 games a year and you will get this restriction.
Too many users abused the system.
Just buy gifts with external payment methods.
