Captcha just fails me every time trying to login/register with new account

Trying to make my dad and my son steam accounts, I managed to get my sons made but then got stuck on captcha trying to login/buy games, the emails never get sent for steam login half the time and the captcha just keeps failing me when im entering what its asking for.

For my Dad's account I registered his email, it never got sent so I clicked the "change email" thinking it may provide a "send again" option or something but instead it now shows a captcha and that like the ones faced on my sons account just refuse to progress.

Its baffling as I get the green tick once ive done the captcha then when I go to click one of the buttons it just gives me:

Is this a temporary/known issue? as I would like to get them setup with some games while the sale is still on.

Im having the same issue but on another account. Seems captcha just isn't working and no matter what verifications you do it just eventually results in an unknown error.

Yes, it's a known issue.

Try another browser or disable your browser extensions.

Don't use a VPN while trying to do the Captcha.

Trying to set up an account for my son on his new pc. We cannot figure this out. We have no browser extensions on bing or chrome, and we are not using a VPN. Any updates on this?

In the end I had to setup a different email address temporarily (on yahoo) and trying various browsers and incognito sessions I got lucky on it sending the email and actually going through.

Its a joke though, if I were a new user I would have been VERY annoyed by this, especially if I wasn't savvy with technology. Its crazy that I had to make a temporary email address on yahoo AND mess about for hours to get an account setup... while I understand the need for bot detection this just seems painful and broken currently, no other sites ive used with Captcha have these problems.
