Can I use the steam cloud archive feature to store 3rd party mods?
I downloaded a number of mods from the third-party mod site Nexus and subsequently played them for dozens of hours while playing a certain game this past March. I then deleted the game.
A few days ago, I downloaded the game and tried to continue playing it, only to find that the game would not run properly. This was manifested by the fact that the game could be opened normally and my archive records and in-game unlocked features and props were all still there, but when I clicked continue, the game got stuck at the loading screen. I have tried several times and restarted the game, but the game always gets stuck in the loading screen.
My guess is that the mod I initially downloaded contained a lot of texture files and code files, but the steam cloud didn't maintain them, and once I deleted the game and redownloaded it, those files disappeared, and thus the game wouldn't work properly because it was missing the necessary files and code data.
In the end, as a last resort, I deleted the archive and started over from scratch, but I played for a short while and realized that I couldn't play without the mod, and I had to play the mod to continue playing.I'm worried that if I can't get to the root of the problem, I might not be able to play it again next time once I deleted the game after playing with the mod this time. Therefore, I hope someone can help me and teach me how to save the mods I downloaded from third party websites properly, so that I can still play the game with these mods next time I change computers. Thanks for your help!

No, Steam Cloud only stores the offical save files of a game, it will not store outside modifications of a game.
The only thing you can do is to write down what mods you are using for a game and then redownload and install them again when you switch computers.
NEXUS at least has a pretty useful "dowload history" page for your account that shows when you downloaded a certain mod with date so that can help narrow down the mods you need to reinstall.

I did a lot of modding during my skyrim days. I used nexus mod manager to help manage mods and I'd say that that behavior is to be expected bcz you are supposed to remove the mods first before uninstalling the game. :nkDaze:

This is a gamble, still, since idk what game were u talking about, but you can try looking if the game has local save files (if the game has one). and before you open the game for the first time on a new computer, try to install the mod first, you might be lucky. :nkSafe:
