Nested lists for Steam format/BBCode
Trying to figure out how to make nested lists for Steam reviews and I'm coming up empty. This thread it partly for me to test, partly for future folks to find answers (should I find them). FWIW. I first tried loads of online preview tools, and all of them handled nested lists differently (or not at all). The only way to truly test what works on Steam is something like this thread. :)

This is a standard list, without nesting:
  • Bulleted list
  • Bulleted list
  • Bulleted list

  • Bulleted list
  • Bulleted list

You don't need a public forum to test.

Also, here's your nested list:

  • foo
    • xxx
  • bar
Oh thanks! I was waiting for the automod to clear and found your reply on refresh. What's the formatting that you used? I've heard many conflicting data points with BBCode, Markdown, HTML, and various free online testers thereof.
Oh I see it when I quoted you. It's this:

[list]
[*]foo
[list]
[*]xxx[/list]
  • bar
well, I tried with "noparse" and it didn't totally work. Would welcome the proper formatting for future folks to see. Seems like the key is to just make another "list" pair inside of an existing one.
For anyone in the future, this is the preview tool that worked best for me: https://patorjk.com/bbcode-previewer/

And this is the converter that worked best for me, to go from HTML to BBCode (that Steam understands):
https://www.seabreezecomputers.com/html2bbcode/

Use case: writing a Steam review in a Google Doc, then converting it to HTML, then converting the HTML to BBCode that Steam can actually read.

Obviously fewer steps would be ideal, and it would be a lot better if Steam had a preview system, but here we are. :)
