My old account got hacked, and I lost all of my progress and the money I spent... Help?

So basically, I stopped using steam for about a year. I just didn't play any of the games I bought because I was busy, and I think someone broke into my account. Because it said my recovery email was... I don't remember what it said, but it definitely wasn't any email I had created previously. I think they changed the password and email, so I just gave up and made a new account to rant about it.

If you mean in-game progress, if you are using steam cloud, your save game should be all alright.

as for your account, looks like somebody has successfully hijacked it. You can try recovering it, just follow this guide:

This is something for the future. Once you recover your account, do this immediately:

1. Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a clean computer.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key (there should be no key). https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
