Purchase with tax exempt status
I need help in figuring out on how to make my tax exemption valid (I have a diplomatic personal tax exemption card): I want to buy a new steam deck but want to waive the sales tax because that's what I have the card for and last time I bought one steam support told me they do not honor personal tax exemptions what should I do?

You buy it without the exempt.

If Valve does accept them then not much you can do.

You will have to either pay the sales tax or not buy a Steam Deck.

If support said no, then that is the final answer.
Tax exemption has limitations, it does not mean you get everything tax free, as some items do not count for exemption.

Even the OFM states they do not support tax exemption attempts with online purchases.

Furthermore, because the nature of purchases made via the internet or by telephone does not allow for the presentation of the tax exemption card to the vendor, the card cannot be honored in such transactions. OFM is unable to provide any assistance to foreign missions or their members in obtaining an exemption or reimbursement of taxes charged on purchases not made in-store.

Your card is meant for in-person store purchases where the validity of the card and the identity of the card holder can be verified face-to-face. If an online store does except, that's a risk they are taking upon themselves. They are not required to accept them.

Your status works on Amazon, though you have to pay full price and have the item delivered then you can send them your status card and your order number and they will give you back what you spent on taxes
